My Secret Garden colouring book, part 1
A couple of months ago a friend told me you can now buy colouring books for adults.
I was so exited hearing that!So I bought the most beautiful colouring book I could find, the one made by Johanna Basford, My Secret Garden.
This colouring book is absolutely stunning, I love the detailed drawings and there is so much to explore in the drawings; flowers, birds, bees, butterflies, ladybirds, keys to secret doors, and drawings of gardens I wish I had as my own garden.
I'm currently colouring several pages, one of them is this circle of flowers.
I'm using my Bruynzeel Design coloured pencils for this drawing. I make sure my pencils are sharpened all the time because they colour so much better and more precise when they are sharpened.
As you can see I need to work a little more on some flowers and leaves.
One of my absolute favourite pages in My Secret Garden is the one with the door. It reminds me of the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I read it as a child and last summer I found the audio book on YouTube and listened to it. Such a beautiful story!
I will listen to it again while finishing 'the door to the secret garden'.
I want to bring this page to life. So besides adding colour I'm also shading the drawing.
I'm using my Bruynzeel Design coloured pencils. I bought them 17 years ago and for years I only used them once in a while. But now I use them almost every day.

I draw a lot at night. Instead of watching boring tv I now take my colouring book and pencils. I also draw during the day because details are much easier to draw during daylight.
I'm adding lots of different layers of colour on top of each other. So it will take me many more joyful hours to finish this drawing!
I will post some pictures of the finished 'secret door' as soon as I've completed it.
I'm also drawing some pages with Derwent Coloursoft Pencils and Derwent Pastel Pencils.
Both types of pencils work also but I keep a sheet of paper on the page with the pastel pencil on it. It prevents the pastel from smudging the opposite page.
